Our Committees
WEDA members serve on committees and task forces that guide WEDA and set our policy goals. If you're looking to get more involved with WEDA and to be a part of effective change, consider volunteering on a committee. Legislative Committee
The goal for this committee is to lead WEDA in effective advocacy for a strong statewide economy. This work is done through:
- Maintaining an active lobbying presence during state legislative sessions
- Moving the state towards a philosophy where economic development is a priority
- Development of coalitions that draw urban/rural and east/west constituencies together around key economic issues facing Washington State
- Developing and disseminating White Papers on key policy topics
- Developing and disseminating WEDA Legislative Priorities
- Producing reports on the status of economic development in Washington State and its future direction
- Writing legislation that advances that advances WEDA's top legislative priorities, and establishing long-term economic development goals and direction for the state's economic development community
Conference Planning Committee
This committee’s focus is on professional development. Key to this committee is providing cutting edge conferences that help economic development practitioners succeed in their communities.
Communications/Marketing Committee
This committee is focused on producing marketing materials and a communications plan to carry out the WEDA message.
Emerging Leaders Group
The Emerging Leaders Group aims to:
- Provide leadership opportunities
- Focus on professional development
- Learn and share best practices
- Gain hands-on experience for new professionals
- Welcome those new to economic development – diversity in thought and experience is appreciated!
Workforce & Attainable Housing Working Group
The Workforce & Attainable Housing Working Group focuses on best practice, solutions-focused conversations regarding:
State of Play on Workforce Housing in Your Regions & Communities – What are you seeing–trends, challenges for economic development?
